Course Description:
In this class we will explore diagnosis as well as splinting application in the acute care setting. Patient populations will range from medical care, oncology, neurologic and ICU. Attendees will get a hands on experience in assessing needs, understanding contraindications, fabricating and fitting splints as well as splint maintenance and follow up. Speakers:
Wayne Zerr, OTR/L Since graduating from the University of Minnesota program in Occupational Therapy, Wayne Zerr has been an Occupational therapist in the Fairview system for the last 14 years. He began his career in hand therapy for 2+yeears and transitioned into acute care initially splitting his time in the burn Unit at Regions hospital and then moving full time to M Health East bank campus. At M Health Wayne has continued his focus on splinting, ICU and most recently Gender Re-assignment rehabilitation. Cally Haderaj, OTR/L Graduated with her MAOT from St. Catherine's University December 2012. Cally began her employment with Fairview in March of 2013. Throughout her time with Fairview, she has trained into the transitional care unit, acute care unit, ortho and mental health at the riverside campus, Princeton hand therapy, south dale hospital, MS achievement center and east bank hospital. I am trained into a vast facets of settings, including neurology, orthopedics, cardiac rehab, general medicine, surgical units, inpatient and out-patient hand therapy.
