Pulmonary Review: Pulmonary Function Tests, Pulmonary Hypertension, and New Directions in Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Course Description:

The course is intended to provide a practical overview of interpretation of pulmonary function tests; discuss the classification, clinical features, diagnosis, therapy, monitoring, and prognosis of patients with pulmonary hypertension; and discuss recent research and advances in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation.

Instructor: 

Andrew Wilson is a  pulmonary and critical care physician at Fairview (Legacy HealthEast). He studied medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School, completed residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Minnesota. His research there involved post-intensive care depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. He has been in clinical practice since 2012.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course,  participants should be able to:
  • Define how pulmonary function testing can be used to classify and stage obstructive and restrictive lung diseases
  • Describe the basic classification, diagnosis, staging, treatment and monitoring of pulmonary hypertension
  • Discuss recent research in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation
