Course Description:
This course is an introductory course to the basics of rehab in cancer care including terminology, staging, medical exams, and side effects. We will cover the role of the rehab professional in assessing and treating this population of patients, including the specific precautions and recommendations for exercise with these patients.
Instructor:
Meghan Rietschel, Clinic Supervisor and Physical Therapist, has a master’s degree in physical therapy from the College of St Scholastica, Duluth, MN. She also earned her Pelvic Rehab Practitioner Certification through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute. Meghan is currently treating patients at the Fridley M Health Fairview Sports and Physical Therapy clinics. Meghan has specialized training in the treatment of pelvic health for all genders, which includes pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic floor pain, tailbone pain, fecal and urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, testicular and scrotal pain, pregnancy and post-partum, pelvic cancer and post gender reassignment surgeries. She uses a variety of techniques in the treatment of pelvic dysfunctions including manual work, visceral work, biofeedback, rectal balloon biofeedback, exercise, and patient education. Meghan is also on faculty for both the M Health Women's Health Residency program as well as for Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute.
