Instructor:
Andrew Wilson is a pulmonary and critical care physician at M Health Fairview. He studied medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School, completed residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Minnesota. His research there involved post-intensive care depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. He has been in clinical practice since 2012 and is medical director of pulmonary rehabilitation at St John’s Hospital and Woodwinds Hospital. Disclosures: none to disclose
Course Description: The course is intended to provide a practical overview of interpretation of pulmonary function tests, including changes implemented within the last 5 years; discuss the classification, diagnosis, and basic management of pulmonary hypertension; and discuss some of the potential chronic pulmonary implications of severe COVID-19 infection.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this course, the participant will be able to better understand: • How pulmonary function testing can be used to classify and stage obstructive and restrictive lung diseases • Describe the basic classification, diagnosis, staging, treatment and monitoring of pulmonary hypertension • Raise awareness about possible long-term effects of COVID-19 infection
