Course Summary

All of the orthopedic knee surgeries can sound a lot like alphabet soup. But it does not have to be that complicated. Understanding the anatomy of the knee, the tissue healing principles and what was done during the surgery can help decrease the complexity. This course will review those key principles in post-operative knee management and assess best practice for a post-operative phase one physical therapy evaluation.

Instructor:

Shannon Kelly is a physical therapist with M Health Fairview at the Highland Park clinic. She participated in the M Health Fairview Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency and got her OCS in 2016.  She received her doctorate from St. Catherine University in 2014.

Throughout her time with M Health Fairview, she has specialized in lower extremity injuries, running injuries and treating the female athlete. Post-operative knee care has been a passion for her since her career started as a resident. She has had the opportunity to work with University of MN physicians orthopedic surgeons in patient care as well as protocol development. She is the co-leader of the cartilage reconstruction rehabilitation program as well as the patellofemoral team.

In addition to patient care, Shannon also is the orthopedic physical therapy residency director.
