Course information: Bio of instructor(s): Caroline Gaddy, MFA, MA, CCC-SLP is an Autistic speech-language pathologist, AAC specialist, disability advocate, and neurodiversity educator based in Virginia. She has presented on AAC and neurodiversity-affirming practices at state and national conferences. She has experience in the medical, private practice, and school settings with adult and pediatric populations. Caroline is passionate about disability justice and inclusion, and firmly believes that communication is a fundamental human right.
Course Description: This interactive session introduces participants to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) technologies, focusing on both lite tech and high tech devices. Designed for educators, therapists, and caregivers, the workshop provides hands-on experience with a variety of AAC tools. Participants will explore practical applications, understand the benefits and limitations of different AAC systems, and learn strategies for integrating these tools into everyday communication. By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to support individuals who rely on AAC for effective communication.
