Course Summary

The purpose of this course is to enhance your knowledge and skill in rehabilitation for knee impairments. We will focus on evidence-based treatments, as indicated in the clinical practice guidelines (CPG’s). We will review the four updated CPG’s for knee impairments. Topics will include patellofemoral pain, meniscal and articular cartilage lesions, knee ligament sprains, and prevention of ACL injuries. The course will combine lecture and breakouts into lab/demos.

Instructor:

Brianna Bren, DPT, SCS, graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a BA in Health Fitness in 2010, and completed her Physical Therapy Doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota in 2014. She completed the Fairview Sports PT Residency in 2015 and is now a clinical specialist working at MHealth Fairview Sports and PT in Burnsville. Bri is also on faculty for both MHealth Fairview Sports and Orthopedic PT residency programs. She serves as one of the primary mentors for the Orthopedic PT Residency. Bri has a passion for working with lower extremity sports injuries (specifically in the female athlete).

Objectives:
At the end of this course, the therapist should be able to:

-       Review and discuss the four updated Clinical Practice Guidelines for knee impairments.

-       Apply evidence informed interventions for knee impairments.

-       With lab and demonstration breakout sessions, practice hands-on interventions for knee impairments.

Outcomes:
Upon completing this course each participant will have gained the knowledge to utilize evidence informed treatment techniques for knee impairments. Demonstrations and hands on lab sessions will leave the participant with the knowledge to effectively progress these patients through a safe rehabilitation program and promote and advocate for ACL injury prevention programs
